Helping Research Sponsors Define & Achieve Strategic Objectives
The System Design and Analytics Laboratory (SyDL) is housed in the Department of Industrial Engineering at the University of Arkansas. Our vision is to help research sponsors define and achieve their strategic objectives. Our research develops innovative systems engineering, decision & risk analysis, and trade-off analytics methods to identify promising opportunities and create high value solutions with acceptable risk. Our researchers have made significant contributions to the agile development of integrated performance, cost, and schedule modeling and quantitative Set-Based Design. Our team has pioneered new methodologies efficiently exploring tradespace and analyzing trade-offs using SBD. Our team provides world-class expertise in decision analysis, engineered system resilience, system reliability, and trade-off analytics. Our team has access to industry standard software, and has over 50 years of combined military acquisition experience. We are members of the International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE), Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS), Institute for Electronics and Electrical Engineering Society (IEEE), Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers (IISE), Military Operations Research Society (MORS), American Society for Engineering Management (ASEM), and American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE).

Partners
Past research partners include the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC), ERDC’s Institute for Systems Engineering Research (ISER), J. B. Hunt, and the Center for Army Analysis.
